Hannah & James || Northbrook Park Wedding ||Surrey wedding photographer
Hannah and James married at Beautiful Northbrook Park, Farnham, Surrey which is a stunning exclusive wedding venue. We asked the lovely couple some questions about their Surrey wedding so that you can get an insight from a Bride and Grooms perspective of their amazing wedding day. Enjoy!
What was your favorite part of your wedding?
Our favourite part of the wedding was exchanging our personal vows during the Ceremony. We spent a long time working on them and making sure we fit all 12 years of our relationship into just a few paragraphs, so it was really special to hear what we both had to say about each other. Even though all our family and friends were watching (and crying!), it felt like we were the only two people in the room!
What made you choose Northbrook Park in Farnham, Surrey for your wedding venue and how did you come to the decision?
We only viewed 3 Wedding Venues before finding exactly what we were looking for. Northbrook Park had the most amazing feel to it… simple and not over the top, but still oozing with elegance and class. The high ceilings, log fire, and beautiful arched windows (along with the Harpist playing our favourite song) sold it for us. We thought Northbrook Park, Farnham would be the perfect setting for a Winter Wedding, and it did not disappoint!
What made you choose your details and styling for your wedding at Northbrook Park, and how did you get inspiration for this?
Rose gold and lilac are my favourite colours (and James was just happy that I didn’t choose pink!). Rose gold has become very fashionable recently so it wasn’t hard to get hold of the decorations and stationery that we wanted. We made sure that we stuck with rose golds throughout the Ceremony Room and the Reception Room, from confetti to cake toppers and menus to table numbers. Our bridesmaid dresses were lilac, which matched the Groomsmen’s ties and pocket squares, and we wanted our flowers to be very simple, so we stuck with a range of different cream roses and green wintry foliage. I got a lot of inspiration from Pinterest (of course!) and from visiting Wedding Fairs around the area. ‘Stealing’ ideas and making them your own is always a winner!
Did you have any entertainment at your wedding and what made you choose it?
As I mentioned above, a Harpist was playing in the Ceremony Room during a Wedding Fair at Northbrook Park. We HAD to book her – she was absolutely fantastic and the music suited the room perfectly. We also had a photo booth which was great fun. We bought a ‘Guest Book’ so our family and friends could stick one of their two printed photos in the book and write us a message next to it. It’s something we love to look back on, especially the photos and messages towards the end of the Guest Book when people were obviously a little tipsier…!!
What would your advice be to other couples planning their wedding?
Don’t rush! Give yourself enough time to plan the wedding of your dreams! Enjoy every minute of the planning and try not to stress too much – you only get to do it once so relax and have fun. Take the time to add small personal touches to your wedding, instead of booking something big for the sake of it or because you THINK you need it. Involve your family, bridesmaids, and groomsmen as much as you can because they’ll really appreciate it, but remember, it’s YOUR day! 🙂
What did you like best about working with Joe Mallen Photography?
Joe isn’t only a fantastic photographer, he’s a lot of fun and made us feel very comfortable in front of the camera. A lot of our guests commented on how smart he looked on the day, and how organised he was with making sure all the right people were in the photos. After having our photos taken as a newly married couple, we barely noticed Joe throughout the rest of the day, he seemed to blend in with the rest of the guests and get the most amazing shots. If you’re looking for a professional, easy-going and efficient photographer, who listens to exactly what you want, then Joe is your man! We are over the moon with our photos and can’t thank him enough.
