Ufton Court || Berkshire || Jackie + Vicki
What was your favourite part of your wedding?
Can we say all of it? I don’t think we could pick one particular part – the getting ready, the service, the wedding breakfast and the evening (and the after party at the hotel) were all amazing and went brilliantly. It was really relaxed and very us and that was our favourite bit! Seeing everyone enjoying themselves and having a great time was the best part of it 🙂
What made you choose your wedding location and how did you come to the decision?
We chose Ufton Court because we wanted a barn location but we wanted other rooms and outdoor spaces to use and it fit the bill perfectly. We chose it by trial and error – looking at several other barn locations (and hotels before that), and then because we went to a wedding fayre there and found them to be really helpful. We also met Verity who we liked immediately and became our wedding coordinator at Ufton.
What made you choose your details and styling for your wedding and how did you get inspiration for this?
We chose the style because Vicki’s favourite colours are pink and purple! With a spring wedding the colour scheme was seasonal and the colours worked with the bridesmaids and page boys we had. The stationery designs were all blackboards as we have one at home in our kitchen for our shopping and to do lists and it was something that fitted in with our personal style.
What entertainment did you have at at your wedding and what made you choose it?
We had a live band called Karizma from Guildford. We wanted live music rather than a DJ and were got a recommendation for Karizma. We looked at all their stuff online and then went to Guildford to see them at a gig. We chose live music as we wanted the entertainment to be reflective of us rather than just another disco. We loved them and they took time out to chat to us and make sure we got what we wanted.
What would your advice be to other couples planning their wedding?
1. Make it what you want it to be and not want your parents, relatives or friends want it to be.
2. Don’t go and see too many venues or speak to too many suppliers as you will just get overloaded with information!
3. Get a spreadsheet up and running asap and just start making a to do list as soon as you can.
4. Work on it together as there is lots to do and its better to share the load and both be involved. BUT divvy up the jobs based on your personal strengths.
What did you like best about working with Joe Mallen Photography?
You put us at ease from the beginning with a really personable style and a relaxed take on things. That fitted our style perfectly and we had trust that you would deliver what we wanted. We wanted the photos to be natural and capture all the fun stuff happening and you did just that. You also knew when you needed to get the formal shots done but you were great at getting everyone in the right place without being bossy!
We had great feedback about you and how you were on the day and everyone has raved about the photos so thank you.
