Clearwell Castle Wedding Photography

It was way back in 2015 when I shot one of my first ever weddings which just happened to be at Clearwell Castle in Gloucestershire. That was a winter wedding, so It was such an incredible opportunity to go back to this fairytale location for Katy & Wayne’s summer wedding. A beautiful Castle venue in a picturesque village of Clearwell nestled in the forest of dean. A sweeping tree-lined driveway up to the castle leads to a magnificent Portcullis, which is an amazing backdrop for pictures. Set in 20 acres of perfectly manicured grounds complete with a cocktail terrace and croquet lawn, Clearwell Castle is the perfect fairy-tale wedding venue.

I traveled up the day before and stayed at the local inn so I was fresh and ready to go the next day. The day began for me with Wayne and his groomsmen at the castle while they finished getting ready. Pinning on buttons holes, having a drink in the bar, and greeting guests as they arrived. I then headed up to the bridal suite where Katy was finishing her hair and makeup before getting into her stunning lace wedding gown. She then made her way down the stairs with her dad to make her grand entrance into Clearwell castle’s ballroom played in by the amazing violinist Sally Potterton where Wayne and all their family and friends were waiting.

After a beautiful ceremony and confetti on the terrace, the guests then headed to the gardens where they enjoyed drinks and games and some close-up magic. This was a perfect opportunity for Katy and Wayne to take a walk around the stunning castle grounds for a bit of time together and a few pictures. The rest of the day flowed effortlessly and barely felt like work with lots of laughs during the speeches and into the evening. Finished off with some stunning night photos with the portcullis.
